Secondary School Certificate Students applying for admission to any of the ECT academic programs must be graduates with a UAE Secondary School Certificate, or it is equivalent, as stated in the admission requirements set in the Ministerial Decrees (No. 200/year 2004 and No 133/year 2005), in addition to meeting the following admission requirements: All applicants for ECT's programs must achieve a recognized and official secondary school certificate, or it's equivalent, showing successful completion of secondary education. All applicants who studied at private schools have to be graduates from a school that is licensed and recognized by the Ministry of Education in the UAE. Students who complete a UAE General Secondary School Certificate must achieve a minimum score of 60% for entry to ECT's undergraduate programs, according to the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. However, students with scores of less than 60% can study in the Foundation Certificate program and should pass five courses, before they proceed to the college programs, namely: Students with Industrial, Applied Technology, Commercial, and Agricultural Secondary School Certificates and with a minimum score of 65% can be admitted to ECT programs. However, students with these certificates and with scores less than 65% can be admitted in the Foundation Program. Students under this category should provide an equivalency from the Ministry of Education. Applicants from foreign schools that follow systems of education applied in their native countries, which have two levels of secondary school education, have to complete the higher level of secondary education in order to be admitted. Additional Requirements To apply for any program offered by ECT, prospective students must submit: Admission application (completed in full, signed and dated) Copy of a valid passport, with the UAE residence visa (if appropriate) Originals or certified copies of all attested' education certificates including completion certificates and transcripts from other higher education institutions for transfer credit purpose English Proficiency Certificate (if appropriate) 2 Passport size photographs A receipt to prove the payment of the non-refundable application fees. Proficiency in English An adequate level of English language proficiency is required for admission. Applicants are required to present one of the following certificates of proficiency: For English programs: Valid certified TOEFL results equivalent to 500 (173CBT, a 61 iBT) or above Valid certified IELTS results band 5.0 Valid certified PTE A score of (36-41) is equivalent to an IELTS score of 5.0, and a PTE A score of (44) is equivalent to TOEFL 500 (173CBT, a 61 iBT). Otherwise, they may undertake a course of remedial or intensive English but must achieve the required score before they can proceed into their academic programs. For the Arabic program Mass Communication and Public Relations, students should submit a TOEFL certificate with a score of 450, or equivalent. A student with a score of 400 can study the first year program but needs to obtain a 450 score before proceeding to the second year. For the Foundation Certificate Program, students who are admitted in the Foundation Program at ECT and wish to pursue their higher education also at ECT and have successfully completed the requirements of the Foundation Certificate Program must meet the English proficiency requirement. Students who can't provide proof of English proficiency upon admission will be required to undertake remedial or intensive English courses provided by the ECT.
